The EX3 is Filabot's newest extruder, designed from feedback gathered from more than 800 EX2 users. It delivers high material flexibility, robust process control and ease of operation so students, researchers, makers and recyclers can create, test, recycle and produce their own filament without stepping up to a large industrial system. Direct, intuitive controls make the extrusion process visible and teachable, while a powerful motor and 425 °C heat capability leave room to grow into engineering and high-performance polymers.
Fast payback. A school, makerspace or print farm that recycles roughly 2,000 kg of material a year can pay back a complete Filabot system in under six months versus buying new filament—while teaching hands-on polymer science along the way.
Every Filabot machine is a building block. The equipment is modular, so you can start with the workflow you need today and expand later—adding cooling, measurement, spooling, pelletizing or shredding—without replacing what you already own. All units are bench-top sized and run on standard 110 V single-phase power (no 3-phase required), so a complete line fits comfortably next to your 3D printers.

The EX3 covers the Extrude stage. Build it out in any direction:
| Product | Stage | Role in the line |
|---|---|---|
| Reclaimer | Reclaim | Two-stage shredder + granulator turns failed prints and scrap into extrudable granulate. |
| EX3 Filament Extruder (this product) | Extrude | Accessible, compact extruder for education, makerspaces, recycling and early-stage material development. |
| EX6 Standard Filament Extruder | Extrude | Professional 24:1 extruder with four PID heat zones and 4+ kg/hr output for R&D and production. |
| EX6 Industrial Filament Extruder | Extrude | EX6 with nitrided barrel and screw for abrasive, filled and reinforced compounds. |
| Airpath Filament Cooler | Cool | Forced-convection cooling that stabilizes filament diameter before it reaches the Spooler. |
| Filameasure | Measure | Inline diameter gauge with Filalogger data logging; mounts to the Spooler. |
| Spooler | Spool | Pulls, traverses and winds finished filament onto 0.5 kg / 1 kg spools. |
| Pelletizer | Pelletize | Chops filament into uniform pellets for re-extrusion, compounding or injection molding. |
Filabot bundles are priced below the sum of their parts:
PLA, PETG, ABS*, HIPS*, PA (Nylon), PC, PO, PEI (ULTEM), PEEK, TPE, TPU, wax and other low-MFI polymers; virgin pellets, recycled regrind, powders, mild additives and fillers. *Ensure proper ventilation and filtration—some materials can emit harmful fumes. Final compatibility depends on screw, nozzle, processing conditions and formulation.

Filabot is a Vermont-based engineering and R&D company that has built filament-making and small-scale polymer-processing systems since 2011. Thousands of systems are in use worldwide, and Filabot equipment has been referenced in more than 1,300 published research articles. Filabot provides direct technical support, installation and material-processing guidance, a processing-settings database, and curriculum resources for educators.
NOTE: 3D Universe is authorized to sell this product in the USA only. Filabot equipment ships from the manufacturer; the Reclaimer and Full Recycling Bundles ship via freight.
Nothing will impact your 3D printing results like the kind of filament you use. Good filament is highly consistent in diameter, is wound evenly onto the spool with just the right amount of tension, and will not tangle when being unwound. 3D Universe offers a wide range of high-quality filaments to choose from.
