UltiMaker Launches the New S6 with a Focus on Defense, Manufacturing and Education

This week, UltiMaker introduced the newest addition to their S line with the S6 3D printer that is geared towards high-performance 3D printing in the manufacturing, defense, and higher education industries.
The S6, boasts renowned versatility and ease of use of the S5 with a next generation of power. Like its bigger brother the S8, the S6 achieves up to 4x the productivity of its predecessor, thanks to innovations like the UltiMaker Cheetah motion planner, better bed leveling, the new dual drive gripper wheel feeder and an optional flex plate – all without compromising on reliability.
It’s the easiest, most accessible way to unlock the full UltiMaker ecosystem, with hundreds of materials, Cura Cloud, and Digital Factory at your fingertips.
“The S6 is about giving our users more – more speed, more versatility, and more freedom – without needing to start from scratch. We’ve kept everything users love about the S5 and made it even better, while ensuring backward compatibility to protect our customers’ investments long term,” explained Marc Uyttenboogaard, Product Manager at UltiMaker.
The UltiMaker S is fully backward compatible with the S5 so print cores, materials, air managers, UltiMaker metal expansion kits, PVA removal systems and material stations for the S line are all interchangable.
The UltiMaker S6 also incorporates the new UltiMaker Cheetah motion planner which gives it print speeds of up to 500 mm/s and 50,000 mm/s2 acceleration. The Cheetah motion planner allows the S6 to print 4 times faster than the S5!
The S6 3D printer also provides options for two build plates. You can decide between the PEI-coated, flexible plate or the glass plate that would be optimal for use in 3D prints that require a more sterile environment setting, (dental and medical devices or food-packaging components.)
This newest 3D printer from UltiMaker supports over 300 different materials and for the first time ever, comes with a 24 month warranty (depending on the region.)
