The Bambu Lab R1 brings a 55W CO₂ laser together with the motion control that keeps Bambu Lab's printers precise. It cuts up to 18 mm walnut plywood and 20 mm acrylic in a single pass, engraves at up to 1,000 mm/s without losing detail, and finds, measures and tracks your workpiece on its own so what you mark is what you cut. Choose the Standalone machine, or a bundle with the Riser Base and Automatic Conveyor Feeder for projects up to 3 meters long — with or without the Rotary Attachment for tumblers, bottles and bowls.

A 55W CO₂ laser with Bambu Lab's proven motion control, making laser work faster, finer and easier. From wood and acrylic to glass, leather, fabric and more — tabletop decor to furniture.
The 55W CO₂ laser cuts up to 18 mm walnut plywood and 20 mm acrylic in a single pass — fast, clean, and without the extra passes that slow you down. With the auto-feed Conveyor, R1 handles material up to 3 meters long: pass-through feeding and deep cutting turn full-length panels into tables, shelving and furniture.
Drop in your workpiece — crooked, curved or tiny. R1 locates it, reads the surface and tracks every move as it works, so every line lands exactly where you set it. The Toolhead Camera traces the edge of printed designs, stickers or drawn outlines and keeps the cut precisely on path, and height sensing follows curved cups, spheres and uneven surfaces to keep engraving sharp across the entire surface. Surface measurement stays accurate even on transparent materials like glass and clear acrylic.
Higher speeds usually mean shallower engraving. R1 compensates as it moves, keeping engraving depth consistent at up to 1,000 mm/s while completing the same job nearly 3× as fast. Vibration compensation cancels the split-second shake when the toolhead changes direction, keeping lines crisp right out of the turn. The Vision Encoder corrects for mechanical drift, keeping absolute motion accuracy within 0.1 mm across the full work area — draw 300 mm, cut 300 mm.
Aligning the optical path used to mean test shots, manual adjustments and trial and error. With R1 that chore comes down to one small sensor: mount the Laser Alignment Sensor on the toolhead and it measures the beam, detects the misalignment and corrects the path automatically, in about one minute. R1 also recognizes Bambu Lab materials automatically and applies the right power and speed, so you can skip test grids and manual parameter setup. A touchscreen right on the machine lets you follow every job in real time, watch the optical path calibrate and check machine health — no computer required.
R1 delivers the same 600 × 300 mm working area as a typical CO₂ laser while taking up about a third less space.
Add the setup you need for taller objects, round pieces, thicker stock and extra-long boards.

Connects directly to R1's exhaust outlet and pulls smoke out at the source. Multi-layer activated-carbon filtration.

Lenses with different focal lengths produce different spot sizes and depths of field. Short focal (S, included): smaller spot, best detail. Medium focal (M): a good balance of precision, speed and cutting capability. Long focal (L): longer depth of field, suited to cutting thicker materials. See the Focusing Lens Guide on the Bambu Lab Wiki for details.
When using the machine for the first time; after moving, impacting or subjecting the machine to severe vibration; after replacing components such as the laser tube or lenses; and when cutting or engraving results noticeably degrade. Bambu Lab recommends calibrating monthly for optimal performance — the Laser Alignment Sensor makes this a one-minute job.
R1 uses a 55W CO₂ laser (9–11 μm) and can cut and engrave full-color acrylic including clear acrylic, wood, leather, textiles, paper, EVA foam and shell, and engrave coated metal, glass and ceramics. The H2 Series 10W/40W diode modules (455 nm) process wood, rubber, metal sheets, leather, dark acrylic and stone but cannot process transparent acrylic. R1's standalone area is 600 × 300 mm (extendable to 600 × 3000 mm with the Conveyor, and up to 248 mm tall with the Riser Base), versus 310 × 270 mm (10W) / 310 × 250 mm (40W) on the H2 Series. R1 adds automatic optical path calibration, autofocus and batch engraving.
Exercise caution with highly reflective materials and do not process uncoated metals. Never process PVC, vinyl or other chlorine-containing materials, which release corrosive and toxic gases. Always keep a person present while the machine is running and ensure proper ventilation (the Purifier E1 Pro is designed for R1).
Nothing will impact your 3D printing results like the kind of filament you use. Good filament is highly consistent in diameter, is wound evenly onto the spool with just the right amount of tension, and will not tangle when being unwound. 3D Universe offers a wide range of high-quality filaments to choose from.
