Introducing 3D Universe Nylon Filament

We're very pleased to introduce 3D Universe Nylon filament! Unlike most nylon filaments, 3D Universe Nylon is available in 7 vibrant colors. Nylon is an excellent option for parts requiring high strength and durability. Parts printed in nylon have a smooth, low-friction surface, making this an excellent choice for gears and other moving parts.

High Standards of Quality
Having close to 30 years of experience manufacturing a very diverse array of plastics, our manufacturer has the process knowledge required to produce high-end filaments. Our nylon has a diameter tolerance of +/- 0.08 mm, which ensures a consistent flow rate. The filament is tightly wound to guard against tangling and each spool is shipped in air-tight packaging to shield against the elements.

Made in the U.S.A. with Artist-friendly Prices
Because our filament is manufactured in the United States, our actual costs are significantly lower. The quality level is exceptionally close to that of European-imported filaments, but far more cost-effective.

Suggested Print Settings
Nozzle temperature: 240-260C
Heated bed temperature: 70C
Print bed adhesion: Glue-stick or thin coating of PVA glue

Like all nylons, there is a tendency for the bottom of the object to lift away from the print bed. To prevent this, print at slower speeds for the first several layers of your object. We found 40mm/sec to work well. After the first 10-20 layers, you can increase the speed to 60-70mm/sec.

Works With 3D Printers That Accept 2.85 mm or 3.0 mm
3D Universe Nylon is designed for printers that work with standard 2.85 mm and up to 3.00 mm size filaments. This includes, but is not limited to:

We have personally tested this filament with our Ultimaker 2+'s and Ultimaker 3's and are absolutely pleased with the results.

Choosing Between 2.85 mm and 3.0 mm
There is some confusion surrounding 2.85 mm vs 3.0 mm filament. The truth is, most filament labeled as 3.0 mm is actually closer to 2.85 mm in diameter - with very rare exceptions. 3D Universe filament is truly 2.85 mm in diameter, with a tolerance of +/- .08 mm. Therefore, it works exceptionally well in Ultimaker printers, as well as printers that require 3 mm filament, such as the LulzBot TAZ or Mini. Simply configure your slicing software for a filament diameter of 2.85 mm and you can expect optimal results.

Get the Quality Filament You Need

Nothing will impact your 3D printing results like the kind of filament you use. Good filament is highly consistent in diameter, is wound evenly onto the spool with just the right amount of tension, and will not tangle when being unwound. 3D Universe offers a wide range of high-quality filaments to choose from.
