3D Universe Terrafilum New Materials | Expanded Collection

We are excited to share our expanded collection of eco-friendly 3D Universe Terrafilum materials! Our great selection of materials keeps growing, and we now have PLA, Tough PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, ABS/PLA, PLA/TPU, and PLA/TPE to add to the growing list of options for our customers!
Back in January of 2020, we announced our partnership with Chris Jackson and Terrafilum Engineered Filaments. Terrafilum was started with one idea in mind: to develop and provide 3D printer users the highest-quality, eco-friendly 3D printing filament solutions on the market. Together, we set out to exceed all our customers' 3D printing needs. We have accomplished that goal, and we do it right here in America!
Below, you will find more information on each of the new materials we offer through our partnership with Terrafilum.
3D Universe Terrafilum PLA
3D Universe Terrafilum PLA is an industrial-grade bio-plastic for rapid prototyping and quick part production. This material is very easy to use, with excellent flow and printing characteristics. Great for long prints and holds up better over time than most common PLA products.
Recommended print settings:
- Print temperature: 190-220C
- Bed Temperature: 60C
- Fan Speed: 100%
- Bed Adhesion: Magigoo Original
3D Universe Terrafilum TOUGH PLA
3D Universe Terrafilum Tough PLA is an industrial-grade bio-plastic with excellent detail and precision performance; professional series PLA for higher impact and heat resistance. Ideal when parts need to be precise and functional.
Recommended print settings:
- Print temperature: 215-235C
- Bed Temperature: 60C
- Fan Speed: 100%
- Bed Adhesion: Magigoo Original
3D Universe Terrafilum PETG
3D Universe Terrafilum PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol-modified) is a durable and strong thermoplastic that combines many desirable features from other plastics into one material. PETG offers similar mechanical properties to that of ABS while maintaining the ease of use of PLA. PETG has low thermal shrinkage in comparison to other materials, making it a great choice for objects in which high levels of dimensional accuracy is required.
Recommended print settings:
- Extruder Temperature: 225-250C (lower temperatures will help reduce stringing)
- Printing Speed: 50-80 mm/s
- Bed Temperature: 80-100C
- Bed Adhesion: Magigoo Original
3D Universe is pleased to offer our PETG material in four unique skin tone colors! Shown above (from left to right): Light Tan, Desert Tan, Chocolate Rose, and Coffee Bean. PETG is easy to print like PLA, but it has a higher temperature resistance and improved strength. This makes it ideally suited for printing e-NABLE assistive devices.
3D Universe Terrafilum ABS
3D Universe Terrafilum ABS is an industrial-grade ABS with superior flow and good impact resistance, and it performs well for thin-walled applications. This material is ideal for end-use parts in electrical/electronic, mechanical, medical, and industrial applications.
Recommended print settings:
- Print temperature: 220-250C
- Bed Temperature: 80-110C
- Cooling fans: Off
- Closed environment: Preferable
- Bed Adhesion: Magigoo Original
3D Universe Terrafilum ASA
3D Universe Terrafilum ASA (acrylic styrene acrylonitrile) is a thermoplastic like ABS, but with improved heat resistance and durability. ASA printed parts are strong and rigid with exceptional UV resistance, incapable of yellowing, making them exceptionally useful in exterior or industrial settings. ASA is also water-resistant, has strong chemical resistance, is anti-static, and is highly impact resistant. For successful ASA printing, a heated bed is needed due to its high glass transition temperature.
ASA is becoming a very popular and commonly used filament. It's as versatile as ABS but with some printing benefits – reduced odors and tighter resolutions. There are many versatile ways to use ASA, but its strength is found for outdoor projects. Products made of ASA 3D printer filament are extra tough and can survive high-heat conditions. When printing, users should remember the high printing temperatures may lead to warping as products cool. Proper bed adhesion is essential, and we recommend Magigoo Original for that purpose.
Recommended print settings:
- Print temperature: 240-260C
- Bed Temperature: 85-110C
- Cooling fans: Off
- Closed environment: Preferable
- Bed Adhesion: Magigoo Original
3D Universe Terrafilum TPU
3D Universe Terrafilum TPU is an industrial-grade bendable material that creates smooth and flexible parts; 3D Universe Terrafilum TPU includes a special additive that allows it to extrude more smoothly, with less stringing and better adhesion than most TPU materials. If you've had trouble printing TPU before, give 3D Universe Terrafilum TPU a try! Ideal for gaskets, couplings, and connectors.
Recommended print settings:
- Print temperature: 230-240C
- Bed Temperature: No heat
- Fan Speed: 50%
- Bed Adhesion: No adhesive or Magigoo Original (helps to avoid over-adhesion)
3D Universe Terrafilum ABS/PLA
3D Universe Terrafilum ABS/PLA is an industrial-grade PLA with superior flow and strength performance; designed for parts where PLA is desired but where the parts will be subjected to repeated use; ideal for parts that may need bend slightly without breaking during use.
Recommended print settings:
- Print temperature: 240-260C
- Bed Temperature: 80C
- Fan Speed: 20%
- Bed Adhesion: Magigoo Origina
3D Universe Terrafilum PLA/TPU
3D Universe Terrafilum PLA/TPU is an industrial-grade PLA with superior end-use temperature performance and strength; use for projects where material properties are critical; ideal for working parts and end-use testing.
Recommended print settings:
- Print temperature: 245-260C
- Bed Temperature: 60C
- Fan Speed: 20%
- Bed Adhesion: Magigoo Original
3D Universe Terrafilum PLA/TPE
3D Universe Terrafilum PLA/TPE is a more flexible style industrial rubber-type PLA where added flexibility is required; ideal for parts subjected to more shock – couplings, grommets, fasteners, and clips.
Recommended print settings:
- Print temperature: 225-245C
- Bed Temperature: 75C
- Fan Speed: 20%
- Bed Adhesion: Magigoo Original
