FAQs

Why use the Polar Cloud?

If you’re still using USB drives, SD cards, Google Sheets, Google Forms, Post-it notes, etc.. to track your print jobs. It’s time to upgrade. Join us in the 21st century by moving all of your 3D printing files and jobs online, so you can start/stop/pause and track them from your phone, tablet, or computer.

How does the Polar Cloud work?

It all starts with your printer. The printer ships from factory with “Polar Cloud Enabled” firmware, meaning it can connect to the cloud without the use of a host-device (raspberry pi, dedicated computer, etc.). You sign in, connect your printer, and upload objects to slice and send to your printer. Then, check in on the camera and manage your print from anywhere!

What is the Polar Cloud used for?

The Polar Cloud is a software application designed to help organizations manage their 3D printing.

How can I get started with the Polar Cloud?

Sign up using one of the OAuth providers and then connect a printer. If you don’t have a 3D printer of your own and are signing in to gain access to a printer shared with you by someone else (or your school/university), please await directions from your printer admin and join the organization using a Join Code.

Is our student data safe with Polar Cloud?

Student data privacy is something we take very seriously at Polar3D Inc. We adhere to the highest standards to assure your data is protected. We are fully compliant with COPPA and FERPA and perform regular security audits to that effect. We encrypt all data from your browser to our servers and back, so none of your information is ever up for grabs. We will never sell your data and there are no ads anywhere in the site.

What integrations does Polar Cloud offer?

Polar Cloud allows students to directly import objects from their AUTODESK TinkerCAD account, and BlocksCAD, as well as Makers Empire. Google users can also import students from Google Classroom, and import print jobs from Google Drive. We are always adding new and exciting integrations! Check back soon or message us to hear more.

What is the pricing structure for the Polar Cloud?

The Polar Cloud is $500 a year for unlimited use at a single school location. If you’re a Hobbyist, University, or Enterprise location, there are plans for you as well. Contact sales@polar3d.com if you have questions about your exact use case and want to work something out.
