At 3D Universe, we've seen a tremendous amount of interest in Ultimaker's proprietary brand of filament. While most brands of filament will perform well with Ultimaker 3D printers, for institutional or professional buyers wanting to conform as closely as possible with the manufacturer's exact specifications, Ultimaker filament is often the most logical choice.
All Ultimaker brand materials are NFC-enabled, allowing them to be automatically detected when used with the Ultimaker 3, Ultimaker 3 Extended, Ultimaker S3, or Ultimaker S5.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON COMPATIBILITY
Automatic material detection for the newer NFC filament will only work when used with the Ultimaker S5, Ultimaker S3, Ultimaker 3, or Ultimaker 3 Extended 3D printers. Nonetheless, the new Ultimaker NFC 2.85 mm filament is 100% compatible with the Ultimaker 2+ Connect, Ultimaker 2+, Ultimaker 2 Extended+, Ultimaker 2 Go and the Ultimaker Original+ Kit, as well as any other printers that use 2.85mm filament.
UltiMaker 3D printers typically come with easy-to-follow calibration procedures. The onboard guided process will help users level the bed, align the dual extruders, and ensure optimal print quality.
While UltiMaker printers are optimized for their own brand of filaments, they support a wide range of materials, including PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, and more. UltiMaker brand materials include an NFC chip that allows the S-Line printers to automatically detect the type and color of material for easier configuration, but the open filament system allows for the use of third-party materials as well.
UltiMaker Cura, the world's most popular slicing software, is entirely free to download and use. And the UltiMaker development team is constantly updating the software with new and improved features, providing the best possible user experience, especially when used with UltiMaker 3D printers.
