Designing the Multiplier
with Teenage Engineering
Teenage Engineering is a consumer electronics company based in Stockholm, Sweden.
Back in the early stages of development of the Multiplier, when the first prototypes of the desktop pressure former were starting
to make successful forms, Mayku got in contact with the team at Teenage Engineering to see if they would like to work on the industrial design and user interface of the machine. What transpired was a development process between London and
Sweden in the midst of a global pandemic. We caught up with the team at Teenage Engineering to talk about the process...

The Mayku Formbox utilizes vacuum forming with a household vacuum's suction to mold materials, ideal for hobbyists. Conversely, the Mayku Multiplier employs pressure forming, using an internal compressor and heat to generate up to four atmospheres of pressure for high-precision pieces, catering to more professional or industrial use cases.
Design your template using CAD software, then select a suitable material such as wood, aluminum, or high-density foam. Create the physical template using a CNC machine or 3D printer, followed by sanding or polishing for a smooth surface. Test the template in a small-scale thermoforming process, making any necessary adjustments before using it in your thermoforming machine to produce your final parts.
Yes! The Mayku Multiplier's custom mode allows for the adjustment of temperature, pressure, and cooling settings to accommodate materials not supplied by Mayku. This feature not only saves time but ensures consistent results by enabling the saving of custom material profiles for future use.
